Flash Player 10.1 on Nokia N900!

1 November 2009Entry by Matías 21 Comments

FlashLogoThe Nokia N900 specs that you would find on most of the web site and even on our post about this subject, probably mentions one of the most interesting features of the Nokia N900, the ability of running Flash Player 9.4, giving to the phone the power to open almost every web site. A few post ago, we justify that almost due to the bad news about the phone not being able to run the iPlayer from the BBC web page.

Nevertheless we got some interesting news. On the Adobe MAX 2009, the Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch showed the new version of the Flash Player (v10.1) running on smartphones, netbooks and the of course, the Nokia N900. So with this new notice, the word almost gets thinner!

Here you have the video where it´s showed the Flash Player 10.1 running on the N900. That would be the first minute. But if you have time, check out the rest of the video where it´s showed the upgrades made on the Flash Player.

Flash player should be already installed with default browser on N900. Try to visit any website using flash, like youtube, it should work fine.

this is true the n900 currently however uses flash 9.0 i wish to upgrade it to either 9.4 or 10.0 if it is available. youtube does work fine but there are quiet a few things on the web that require higher than version 9.0 and these are unavalble on the n900. i have tried all the linex based flashplayers fomr the flash website but none of these are compatable with the n900. does anyone know if there is an upgrade for the n900 flash player adn if so where to get it from

If you’re using Firefox then there is add-on called Youtube Enabler, installing this add-on should help.

so when will the N900 get the Flash 10.1? it’s been more than half a year delayed….

  • Maciej Jablonski said:

    @amiraseri:
After PR1.2 update it’s still using Flash 9, I think this will be updated in next firmware upgrade.

The N900 has MSN, it´s called Amsn search it on google.
I hate that if you are in a flash 10 player site the n900 can´t play it because it has v9. :(

looks sexy on the n900… the others are lagging hahaa =D this means that iphone are far worst than all these androids LOL…. linux is still the most powerful yet

how do you install amsn? i have tried to download it and doesnt seem to work…

My god you lot are thick!

Adobe hasn’t released a linux version of Flash compiled for ARM processors, only x86.

Adobe has supplied NOKIA with a porting kit so it’s in NOKIAs hands now, PR1.3 possibly, if it ever comes.

In response to the msn query, go to app manager and download msn-butterfly, it will then integrate into conversations like facebook chat, ovi chat and skype do, if you can’t find it you might need to enable the extras-testing and extras-devel repositories, if you still can’t find it, just go and get an iPhail, the N900 isn’t for you!

Does anyone know if flash player update is available now for nokia n900. Its embarrasing, compared to other phones, that we can’t view a website with latest flash player.

  • Nico said:
