jSpeed – speed meter for everyone

19 August 2010Entry by

I make quite a few kilometers every day while going to and from work. I tend to use public transportation, so actually I have not much of track or speed choice. For those who drive own cars it’s sometimes good to know total time, average speed, maximum speed to choose the best possible route. jSpeed may be really helpful with this and not only.

jSpeed application shows your current speed thanks to N900 GPS receiver, unfortunately I haven’t cought any big speed, since on tram I’m mostly playing games ;) . After some time of travelling you can check your averages for current trip or totals you’ve reached by just tapping on the screen. Additionally you can add speed alarm that will inform you if you drive too fast and speed cameras detection after importing .asc file with locations.

Apart from nice functions jSpeed also has nice look, including two themes for digital speedmeter and fancy retro looking disc. Theme canges may be scheduled if you’re taking a long trip and you know it will get dark during the ride.

So if you want to keep track of your everyday trips or vacation jurneys, you can easily do it with jSpeed and get some extra features, I think I will keep it to know how good is local public transport in my city.
