I was not expecting in this era a phone with such a high Price and such a low battery. It is like fitting the battery of a small Car in to big Truck. I have always fear of loosing the battery when I go out of the city. I dont pick up the calls in the fear of loosing the battery. This is very risky to loose the network.
Nokia Should definitely recall the battery for this phone in order to meet the buyer's expectations. I bought this phone at high price because this was the Nokia phone. The same features are available in the other brands for 20% of the Price of the Nokia N900.

If Nokia does not care about the brand Image, then we should find some local manufaturer to provide the robust battery for Mobile Charger. Carry the mobile charger in one hand and phone in Other hand.

the best geeky phone ever built nokia n900
which other mobile come close to n900 for internet ,blogging im,chat ,email, video chat all with a keyboard.

i am sure none. world hasnt advanced more than n900.

when i use all of the feature simultaneuosly i get 6-8 hour battery life.

when i just use features randomly 8-12 hours.

when i dont use anything but couple of calls 12-24 hours.

the trick .as mentioned above turn off they are all simple.

1.turn phone features when not in use.
2. TURN OFF GPS FEATURE IF YOU DONT USE (it is generally useless in daily life except in travel)
3.camera uses pretty much power, reduce the usage.
4.wlan uses good amount of power if you dont want turn it off.
5.internet browser is very powerful and feature rich it is the very much power hungry too.
i learnt all this using application battery eye which plots a graph of power
6.video chat is also power hungry as it uses most of the vitals .

you need not turn off everything to just get maximum battery life.

rather use it wisely it is a geek phone like a newborn baby . everything is open , so we need to program it, guide it to operate optimaly.

i complained for couple of days, now i cant live without it.sometimes i move with charger in hand. but i now i know i could deliver.

i wish nokia could muscular battery of 1500 or 2000ma then it would be a true internet tablet but that will increase the wiegth of the n900 too much.
so for the time being nokia n900 is justified as feature packed amazing device.

I think asking for a better battery is not practical... The reason why multitasking and flash are disabled on win phone 7 and ios is because of this.

The best solution to enjoy the best of both worlds is to get a spare battery (5 euros ) and an external battery charger -- Even with heavy use u are alive for a whole day :)

Here are three things to boost batter to 4 DAYS.. yes 4 full days without recharge

1) lower display light to lowest

2) download 3g/2g switcher app and keep it at 2g especially when commuting as some areas don't have adequate 3g network and phone tries to access 3g draining battery faster

3) download wifi switcher to completely turn off wifi as maemo wifi tools is not able to disconnect wifi properly and phone still keeps searching for newer wifi network all the time draining battery.

once done, enjoy 4 days without a charge
