Nokia N900 transmits over FM?

27 December 2009Entry by

We have already talked about the Nokia N900 specs. How power full was thanks to its ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor with PowerVR SGX graphics, the amazing 5MP camera Carl Zeiss optics that Nokia has accustomed us with autofocus, Dual LED flash, video light, even the great memory for storage initially of 32 GB with the possibility to take it up to 48 GB. Leaving the hardware a side and bringing the software, the newly Maemo 5 OS is very promising, and the incredible internet capability making a revolution in this subject as it is the first one introducing the desktop computer internet experience on a mobile phone.

However, there is one that spec that it’s very interesting too and it hasn’t call too much the attention in my opinion. That would be the FM transmitter. This little hardware adds gives the possibility to the Nokia N900 to transmit over FM frequencies. But what it would transmit? Music its one possibility as one person seems who uploaded a YouTube video, showing how it starts playing music on the Nokia N900 while you listen a radio playing on the background. The guy activates somehow the FM transmitter and establishes the same FM frequency as the radio on the background, and instantly you are hearing the music played on the Nokia N900 through the radio speakers.

In my opinion, it’s an interesting capability and as far as I know unique although it needs time for developers to work with it a little bit and see the applications and uses that that they could find to this FM transmitter.

Don’t forget to join our twitter and Facebook groups if you haven’t done it yet, where you would receive updates and be close to other people as fan as us of the Nokia N900.

UPDATE: (28-12-2009) – Hey, here is a new video where a guy use it as an FM transmitter is used on radio cars. By setting the same FM frequency on both (car radio and Nokia N900), he listen his personal music selection through the car speakers, check it out!
