People want to see the portrait mode on the Nokia N900
This is the final result from the poll done by Nokia Conversations last week. The most voted was the one which was winning on the last post about this subject which was: “ability to run everything on the N900 in portrait mode”. I think that this is an interesting issue but, in my opinion it´s more important the one with the second place on the poll: “MMS”.
This is a known issue which I want to clarified first. On some post I wrote about the Nokia N900 being able to work with MMS and this is a mistake. This was due to a very vague sentence on the Nokia Official web page about the N900 specs where I understood that the support of these protocol depended on the operator’s decision. Please check it for your-self by clicking here. I want to thanks to one of our readers for pointing me out this.
Summarizing, the Nokia N900 doesn’t actually support MMS, and this issue came second on the poll when in my opinion should have been on first place. For more information about this poll, please go to the Nokia Conversations page or click here.

I couldn’t give 2 hoots about MMS. I’ve only ever sent 2. One didn’t display properly and the other didn’t get through cos the guy I sent it too had bust his phone so was using his spare that didn’t have MMS support. I was always thinking, who could I send this too, what kind of phone does John have? Will the screen be able to display this, will he have a codec to play this file?
Send an email. They will either have an internet phone to view or will see it when they are on their pc at home. Magic.
It’s such a pointless shitty format that will hopefully be dead in a few years.

I feel that you are wrong about the MMS. Have you ever been at a clothing store looking for a gift or such for someone and can’t decide between something. How do you get someone else in on the shopping? MMS! You shoot a pic of both items or 3 or 4 and ask the MMS recipient, which one? And they can send a message write back. It’s all about the need to visually share at that precise moment. Everyone I know uses MMS. Come on Nokia, get with the program. I want the N900 but, I may not just because of the MMS. It’s been a excellent tool of time saving. Especially when shopping alone for my daughter for clothes.
