Prototype: HDR capture and low light assistant enhances image quality

31 August 2010Entry by

Always trying to get the best photo possible with the most nicest background with your Nokia N900 but it doesn’t work. Then the HDR capture application is the right thing for you.

Thia application helps where the camera is not adaptable where there is too much light or just too little. However by taking several images and combining them together, it can redefine the image quality but it can’t be guaranteed as it is a prototype.

The user doesn’t have to capture each time pressing the capture image on the back of the phone but the application decides how many photos are to be taken and does it for you, when it has finished capturing the images, the last thing that the application does is that it also combines the pictures for you.

Another problem that the images make is that if you take an image with short exposure with not enough light causing the result to be a noisy image.

The Lowlight Assistant helps the camera captures two images, a short image (probably noisy) and a long image (probably blurry) automatically combining the 2 images to a new image that might just have  the right sharpness of the short exposure with better colors of the long exposure. The user can then evaluate a small area of the image to see whether the quality is good or bad.
